On the contrary, the Ember should be charged every couple of months even if it is not in use. We have something called ‘maintenance charging’ which means that if left on the coaster for months on end the battery is periodically topped off because the battery slowly self-discharges and no harm is done. When the battery is fully charged the charging is shut off automatically so no battery damage will occur. The Ember is 100% safe to keep on the charger when you are not using it. A depleted battery can take up to two hours to fully charge the Ember. The Ember’s exact battery life can be viewed at any time within the ‘Settings’ section of the Ember app. The Ember Mug² will display a pulsing red light when it is charging and turn solid green when fully charged and ready for use. The Ember Travel Mug² will display a partially-filled, pulsing battery indicator on the LED display when charging and show a full battery when fully charged and ready to use. To charge your Ember Mug, place the Ember on the plugged-in charging coaster. The Ember also has a 2 hour auto shut off if the mug is untouched. This is a battery safety setting to ensure your Ember does not overheat the battery when left on the charger for long periods throughout the day with hot liquids inside. The battery of your Ember Mug will charge while on the Charging Coaster even if the mug is heating liquid, as long as the battery temperature is below the regulated max charge temperature. If you are still enjoying your perfect temperature beverage, but your battery is about to run out, simply place the Ember on the plugged in Charging Coaster, and it will continue to maintain your preferred temperature. When the Ember is paired to the Ember app, the app will notify you when your Ember is about to run out of battery and stop heating. The colder the environment the Ember is around, the harder your Ember is working to maintain the set temperature. It will take more battery to keep a full 8 oz beverage hot the entire time, rather than a beverage that decreases over time. Drink ConsumptionĪs you continue to drink your beverage, the battery will require less and less work to maintain the temperature. Alternatively, drinking lower than 130☏ will allow for a slightly longer battery life. Any higher will require more power from the heaters. The average temperature of drinking tea or coffee is between 130☏ & 135☏. Cold Additivesĭepending on the amount of cold additives being added, such as milk or creamer, the drink temperature may drop below the set temperature, resulting in the batteries needing to work harder to increase the temperature, therefore reducing the battery life.
